What is the philosophy behind the modern MIKROLAB diagnostic laboratories?
The modern MIKROLAB diagnostic laboratories were created to redefine the relationship between patient and laboratory, offering a more personalised, high-quality medical service. Our laboratories keep a separate test file for every patient, while I personally evaluate the results and provide medical guidance to each person tested. For us, every sample is examined individually and assessed together with the person’s medical history, so that any change in their health is noticed.
How do you achieve the high quality and reliability the laboratories are known for?
Our laboratory equipment consists of the latest generation of analysers, which undergo regular quality checks to guarantee accurate results. Our laboratory is fully equipped, with no need for partner laboratories, so every test is performed on our premises and our samples never “travel”. I would also like to stress how quickly our results are available: a person tested with us receives their results within a few hours, on the same day. Finally, the key to the quality of our medical service is the highly qualified biomedical staff of our centre, experienced in blood collection and in taking all kinds of biological samples. Together with my own scientific and medical guidance, this ensures a fully reliable test result.
Which departments and services do you offer?
Our laboratories have every department: haematology, biochemistry, microbiology, hormones, immunology and tumour markers, and molecular diagnostics. During the Covid-19 pandemic our laboratory became known for rapid molecular diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2, issuing molecular test results within two hours. Throughout the pandemic, and still today, we also collect samples for tests at home, for the convenience of the public.
We also provide complete prenatal screening, including semen analysis and all the necessary blood tests, as well as cervicovaginal swab collection. The immediacy of our laboratory’s results is particularly valuable in IVF, where preparation requires prompt hormone testing. Our microbiology department accepts every type of sample, such as urine, vaginal, semen, urine fractions and prostatic fluid cultures and blood cultures, with identification of the microorganism and antibiogram. All blood tests are performed at our centre: cardiac, lipid, tumour, liver and kidney markers, as well as anaemia and thrombophilia testing. Paediatric and home blood collection are carried out by our experienced staff.
