MIRABILIS ως παθογόνα της κοινότητας  και η  pseudomonas aeroginosa κυρίως σε νοσοκομειακούς ασθενείς και  ιδίως σε άτομα που φέρουν καθετήρα. Η ανατομία του γυναικείου φύλου  (εκτεθειμένη ουρήθρα) αποτελεί προδιάθεση ως προς τη λοίμωξη καθώς επίσης και η σεξουαλική επαφή.
